Sawada Coffee
Around the corner on Green. Quiet, fast, and the team’s morning default.
Most Chicago engagements aren't startups — they're 30-, 60-, 100-year-old operators who need new systems without breaking the ones that work. Our Chicago team is heavy on operations leadership, supply-chain, and finance modernization. We've been here since 2020.
Operations leads, supply-chain analysts, and finance-modernization specialists. Heaviest senior bench in the network.
Industrial and B2B-operations engagements across the Midwest, Northeast, and Ontario.
Two studio bays, a 14-seat boardroom, and a dedicated audit room for finance reviews.
Median client age in our Chicago book. We work with operators who've been compounding for decades.
Our floor is in the converted Hubbard Loft Building on the corner of Franklin and Hubbard, half a block from the Chicago River. Reception is on the sixth floor; a BBD team member meets all visitors in the ground-floor lobby.
Chicago is the gravitational center of US industrial America. Our clients here run distribution networks, factories, food businesses, and service operators — and being on the same time zone, weather, and rhythm as them matters.
Most Midwestern industrial operators have a Chicago office, a Chicago banker, or a Chicago accountant. Being walkable to LaSalle and Wacker shortens almost every diligence cycle.
Chicago retains senior operations leaders who in other cities would have moved on. Our Chicago team has the longest median tenure of the network.
River North has the lofts, the daylight, and the tempo our team prefers — close enough to the Loop for a 9am breakfast meeting, far enough for a quiet afternoon of analysis.
The Chicago studio is set up for working visits — ops reviews, multi-day diligence, and client board meetings. Plan for whiteboards, printouts, and a long day.
Confirm the visit 48 hours ahead, bring photo ID for the lobby system, and arrive 10 minutes early. A BBD team member meets every visitor in the ground-floor lobby. The freight entrance on Hubbard works for deliveries; please don't use it.
The team works smart-casual; in winter, layers. Our boardroom has a 90-inch display, two whiteboards, and a printer; if you need physical packets prepared, send the file 24 hours ahead and reception will handle it.
Validated parking is at 220 W Kinzie, half a block away. The Brown and Purple lines stop at Merchandise Mart, two blocks east. From O'Hare, the Blue Line to Clark/Lake is fastest at peak; off-peak, take a car.
River North is a transit-friendly address: the L runs every few minutes, downtown walking takes 8 minutes, and both airports connect on the same train.
Lower Wacker to Franklin, north on Franklin to Hubbard. Validated garage at 220 W Kinzie, half a block away.
Merchandise Mart Station is a two-block walk. Brown and Purple lines run from Northside through the Loop.
Blue Line from O'Hare to Clark/Lake is fastest at peak (~45min). Off-peak, take a car (~30 min).
Orange Line to Clark/Lake, or a 25-minute car ride. We can pre-book if you reply to your visit email.
River North works for early breakfasts, working lunches, and end-of-day dinners. The team's most-booked spots are below.
Around the corner on Green. Quiet, fast, and the team’s morning default.

Steakhouse two blocks away. Our default for client dinners. Book three weeks ahead.
On the same block. Walking distance to the studio. Comfortable for short visits.
West Loop. Quieter, river-adjacent, and a better fit for multi-day intensives.
Half a block south. Two miles in either direction. Best 7am call route in River North.
Near the Newberry Library. Ten-minute walk, useful before a high-stakes meeting.
On the Chicago Athletic Association building. Skyline view, easy after-work spot.
The Chicago studio is one of ten BBD locations. Most engagements draw on more than one — if your work spans timezones, regulators, or markets, we'll route you to the right combination.
Miami headquarters and nine partner studios.
North America, the Caribbean, the UK, and East Asia.
From PT to JST — someone is online during your business hours.
English, French, Spanish, Mandarin, and Japanese on staff.
Strategy, Systems, and Brand studios. The center of gravity for every engagement — every founder's build runs through here.
Capital markets, investor relations, and East Coast operator network. Our default for fundraising-stage clients.
Product, engineering recruiting, and early-stage operator bench. Where most of our technical builds originate.
Industrial, logistics, and B2B operations specialists. The team that handles legacy-business modernization work.
Brand, content, and consumer-product studio. Closest to the Los Angeles creator economy and our entertainment clients.
Cross-border tax, immigration, and Canadian market entry. Our default for U.S. founders expanding north.
Pacific Northwest tech corridor and resource-economy clients. Bridges our West Coast and Asia-Pacific work.
Holding-company structuring, fund formation, and offshore corporate services. For clients with international footprints.
EU and UK market entry, FCA navigation, and our European operator bench. The hub for transatlantic work.
APAC market entry, supplier diligence, and Japan-specific corporate structuring. Our easternmost team.
Visits to the Chicago studio are by appointment so we can pair the right person with the conversation — a 20-minute meet-and-greet, a 90-minute working session, or a full-day intensive. Start with a call; we'll take it from there.
